LAS Ford Explorer FRU Fleet
Client: London Ambulance Service
About this build
RVC was selected to design, engineer and convert a fleet of 40 all-electric Ford Explorer Rapid Response Vehicles for London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, making this our largest project to date.
Working closely with the LAS team from the early stages of the programme, we developed a conversion specifically around the requirements of frontline paramedics and the demands of operating across London. The build incorporates emergency warning systems, specialist equipment, secure storage and integrated electrical systems, all carefully packaged within the new Ford Explorer EV platform.
Delivering a fleet of this scale required close coordination across design, engineering, procurement, production and quality control. Every vehicle was built to the same high standard, with the complete programme successfully delivered to the agreed schedule.
The project represents a major milestone for RVC and demonstrates our ability to take a specialist vehicle conversion from initial concept and development through to full-scale fleet production, while maintaining quality, consistency and programme delivery throughout.
It also marks another important step in the adoption of electric vehicles within frontline emergency services, combining modern EV technology with a practical, reliable and operationally focused conversion.
A project we are incredibly proud to have delivered in partnership with London Ambulance Service.
